Fall is my favorite time of the year for pretty much everything. Fall fashion, fall lattes, crisp fall weather. I eat it all up. And fall makeup trends is no exception. Once I finally accepted that I have fairly larger lips than the average woman (being a teenager was tough ya'll), I learned to embrace the beauty of a dark lip. Deep lipstick brightens your complexion and adds an immediate "bad-to-the-bone and I know it" air to your look that makes me feel totally fierce. That's right. Fall makes me fierce :)
Sure, I could've attempted to go all beauty guru and done a makeup video tutorial, but let's be real, I'm not really good at that. So instead, I'll list these babies and tell you what I do with them. Okay? Okay.
Foundation is pretty much the worst part of my makeup routine. I can always feel it on my skin. Some days I skip it altogether but I must admit that my makeup looks better with it.
L'Oreal's True Match is the only drugstore foundation that works for me. Relatively light weight while maintaining coverage, it applies smooth as hell. As you can imagine, a girl who dislikes foundation ain't trying to wear bronzer. So instead, I use the lighter W8 (mixed with 1-2 drops of the darker in warmer months) in the center of my face and the darker N8 in the hollows of my cheeks and around the perimeter. Then I blend and set with that MAC Skinfinish powder in Dark.
Covering my super dark circles is a hell of a task and the NARS Radiant Creamy concealer is up for it. I mix the shades Caramel and Amande for basic coverage without being super highlighted.
If the above rant on foundation wasn't enough, I'm not much of a blush girl either. I've got tons of them but use so few, rotating favorites in and out. NYX's soft pink blush in Silky Rose never fails me, especially with a bold lip.
(Note: most of my eye products are not pictured above because I forgot! Whoops!)
+ Brow pencil
My eyebrows are on the thinner side so I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Brunette to define and fill them in.
No worries, I'm consistent. Rarely, very rarely , do I wear a whole eyeshadow look. The most you'll get from me is a nice wash of shimmer on the lid, a little dark brown throughout the crease and on the bottom lash line. And that's only like 25% of the time. This fall, I've been sweeping the shade "Half Baked" from the Naked 1 palette on my lid and it's been perfect.
Where my lack of shadow comes in, winged liner saves the day! Stila's Stay All Day Liquid Liner has been a staple in my collection for years and it isn't going anywhere. The applicator is the perfect combination of flexible and sturdy for a girl of questionable skill like me.
The lashes and the lips are the star of my show this fall (read: every fall!). I love love love the combo pictured above, Dior's voluminizing primer with L'Oreal Voluminous and Rimmel's Lash Accelerator, and I swear fealty to it with every bottle I repurchase. But I've found that I want a little extra recently, so I'll pop on a pair of lashes for the va-va-voom! And by "pop on", I of course mean battle with them for 10 minutes :)
Jordana lipliners are bomb. They don't last super duper long but they are pigmented, smooth and so damn cheap. For fall, I've been switching between two deep lip shades, using Jordana's liners in "Cabernet" and "Plush Plum"...
... with MAC's Rebel and Wet N' Wild's Cherry Bomb, respectively. These two are hands down my favorite fall colors so I really wear them out! Rebel is a deep berry purple that screams "rocker chic", while Cherry Bomb is aptly named with its deep reddish brown color that reads dark and sexy.

That all sounds like a lot but really, it's pretty quick. If I'm taking my time, it's 20 minutes, but I can get it done in 10 if I need to. Sometimes I pare it down to concealer, brows, mascara and lipstick, skipping everything else. But when I do the full regime, I can't deny that I feel more put together.
